Dog Thinks Baby Crying Means Playtime

Some dogs become extremely confused by crying babies.

Instead of recognizing crying as distress, many dogs interpret the noise as excitement and immediately begin playing.

Parents commonly witness dogs:

  • bringing toys to crying babies,
  • wagging excitedly during tantrums,
  • barking happily,
  • or sprinting through the house during emotional baby moments.

Dogs often mean well, but their timing can be terrible.

Babies sometimes stop crying simply because the dog’s ridiculous behavior becomes too entertaining.

Other times, the chaos becomes even louder.

Either way, family life with babies and dogs is never predictable.
