My Baby Has More Attitude Than Me

My Baby Has More Attitude Than Me

Before becoming a parent, I assumed babies were sweet, innocent little creatures who cooed gently and gazed lovingly at their caregivers.

Then I met my baby.

Somewhere between birth and month three, my child developed a personality bigger than mine, louder than mine, and bold enough to rival a reality TV star. I didn’t give birth to a baby—I gave birth to a tiny boss with an unlimited attitude budget.

Here’s how I learned I am no longer the one running this household.

The Side-Eye That Could End Careers

My baby doesn’t just look at me.
My baby judges me.

If I dare to do something offensive—like sneeze, breathe incorrectly, or take too long opening a bottle—I get the world’s tiniest side-eye. A look so powerful it could shut down entire corporations.

I have been side-eyed for:

  • Wearing socks that “offend” the baby
  • Putting the pacifier in 0.02 seconds too slow
  • Attempting tummy time
  • Existing

Tiny human. Giant attitude.

The Dramatic Sighs and Eye Rolls

I didn’t know babies could sigh dramatically until mine did it—loudly—while I changed a diaper. The baby looked at me like, “Ugh, can you hurry? I have things to scream about.”

Sometimes they even roll their eyes when I try to soothe them, as if to say, “This again?”

Honestly, if there were a baby version of customer service reviews, I’d be getting one star.

The Screams of Outrage

You’d think I was withholding luxury goods the way my baby reacts to everyday inconveniences.

  • The bottle is 2 degrees cooler than expected?
    Screaming.
  • I paused walking from the kitchen to the living room?
    Screaming.
  • The sun dared to shine through the window?
    Screaming.

This baby behaves like a tiny emperor who expects flawless service 24/7—and will revolt if conditions are unsatisfactory.

The “I’m Not Doing That” Resistance Moves

Tell my baby it’s nap time? Suddenly they’re made of steel.
Try putting on pants? My baby becomes a slippery octopus.
Offer peas? They transform into a dramatic Shakespearean actor collapsing in despair.

Every task becomes a negotiation—and I lose every time.

The Smug Grin of Victory

When the baby gets their way—which is always—they flash a smug, satisfied grin that says:

“You never stood a chance.”

They know they’re in charge. They know I’ll do anything to stop the fussing. They know they control the entire household with a single squeak.

Honestly, it’s impressive. Terrifying, but impressive.

The Sweetness That Saves Them Every Time

Here’s the thing: after all the sass, all the shrieks, all the baby-level attitude that could fuel an entire sitcom… they look up at me with those big innocent eyes and the tiniest smile.

And in that moment, I forget everything.

Suddenly the attitude is adorable.
Suddenly I’m honored to serve my tiny overlord.
Suddenly I’m like, “Sure, baby, whatever you want.”

They know exactly what they’re doing.

The Truth Every Parent Knows

Babies may be small, but their personalities?
Massive.
They’ll humble you, challenge you, and give you more attitude than a teenager in a mood.

But they’ll also fill your heart, make you laugh, and remind you that even the sassiest babies are really just tiny humans figuring out the world—with style.

And honestly? I wouldn’t trade my little attitude boss for anything.
