A Tasting Menu With Only One Approved Flavor

A fictional comedy from CyberBabiez. The characters and events are invented.

The tasting menu promised a journey through twelve imaginative courses. Nib asked whether the journey could stay home.

Course one was accepted. Course two looked different, which raised serious questions about consistency. The chef replaced it with course one.

By course seven, the kitchen had produced seven identical little plates. The waiter described each with increasing creativity. A familiar opening. A reassuring middle. A bold return to the beginning.

Nib praised the restaurant's focus.

For dessert, the chef offered the same flavor in a different shape. This was considered reckless experimentation.

The review appeared the next morning: excellent concept, unnecessary ambition near the end.

The chef framed it anyway. It was the first review that had spelled the restaurant's name correctly.

Nib had copied it from the napkin.
