Lulu Discovers a Moon Made of Applause

A fictional comedy from CyberBabiez. The characters and events are invented.

Every step on the new moon produced clapping. Lulu raised an eyebrow. The ground gave her a standing ovation, which was impressive for ground.

She read the mission checklist aloud. Thunderous applause. She dropped the checklist. Even louder applause.

'How do I know when I've done something well?' she asked.

The moon's mayor shrugged. 'We find criticism difficult.'

Lulu tried telling a deliberately terrible joke.

'Why did the spaceship cross the galaxy? For administrative reasons.'

The applause lasted eight minutes.

Then the navigation computer read its newest poem.

Silence spread across the craters.

Finally, one small pebble coughed.

The mayor seized Lulu's hands. 'Please leave us a copy. Our theater has been trying to get the audience to go home for centuries.'
