The Comet Refuses to Make an Entrance Without Music

A fictional comedy from CyberBabiez. The characters and events are invented.

Lulu waited at the observation window. The famous comet was scheduled for six.

At six ten, it sent a message.

'Where is my entrance music?'

Lulu offered to hum. The comet requested an orchestra, preferably one with dramatic elbows.

The computer assembled a recording from engine noises, cupboard squeaks, and an elevator chime.

The comet loved the opening but wanted more emotional growth in the middle.

After eleven revisions, Lulu pressed play. The comet swept past in a blaze of silver.

Its appearance lasted two seconds.

'Encore?' asked the computer.

'In seventy years,' said the comet. 'Use the time to work on the ending.'

Lulu saved the music under Final, Actually Final, Comet Approved. Then the cupboard squeaked and requested a performance credit.
