The Restaurant Lost a Star Because the Spoon Was Blue

A fictional comedy from CyberBabiez. The characters and events are invented.

Nib arrived at Chez Pretend with a reservation, a serious expression, and a red spoon. The restaurant supplied a blue spoon. The evening was already in trouble.

The chef explained that both spoons performed the same function. Nib explained, through a lengthy silence, that function was not the point.

The soup received praise for being in a bowl. The bowl lost points for being the wrong bowl. The bread was admired from a distance and then accused of being bread.

When the bill arrived, Nib awarded the restaurant four stars. The chef asked what would earn the fifth.

A red spoon.

The waiter brought one.

Nib stared at it with devastating disappointment.

By then, naturally, he wanted the blue one. The chef began looking into a less demanding career, perhaps weather forecasting.
