The Scenic Overlook Is Tired of Being Overlooked

The scenic overlook was waiting when Mimi arrived.

'Everyone photographs the valley,' it said. 'Nobody photographs me.'

Mimi looked down at the plain paving stones.

'I suppose you are doing important work.'

'Exactly. Excellent support. Reliable position. No seasonal closures caused by vanity.'

She took a photograph of the stones. The overlook asked whether she had captured its good side.

A passing tourist stopped to see what she was photographing. Then another. Soon a small queue formed to admire the paving.

The valley cleared its throat.

Mimi stepped back and photographed both together.

The overlook studied the result. 'I suppose we make a good team.'

She printed the picture for her office. Visitors always asked about the beautiful valley. Mimi always began by explaining the pavement.
