A Refund Request for Yesterday's Weather

The weather complaint arrived with a drawing of a picnic under a large gray scribble. Dot agreed that the scribble looked disappointing.

The customer demanded yesterday back, preferably with sunshine. Dot explained that yesterday had left the warehouse and could no longer be recalled.

Could they exchange it for Saturday?

Saturday was popular and subject to availability.

Dot offered a complimentary tomorrow, which the customer correctly observed they were already expecting. Negotiations stalled.

Then the customer admitted the rainy picnic had moved indoors and everyone had enjoyed themselves. Dot asked whether the weather had actually ruined the day.

No, said the customer, but it had ruined the plan.

Dot opened a new department called Plans That Become Different Plans.

It immediately became the busiest department in the company.
