Someone Ordered Silence With Extra Noise

Silence and cymbals were stored on adjacent shelves. An understandable mistake, she said, although not a quiet one.

The customer asked the band to stop. The band interpreted this as a request for a dramatic pause before the chorus.

Dot dispatched a replacement parcel. It contained one mime.

The mime quietly explained that the silence was imaginary. The customer quietly explained that the refund should not be.

At last, Dot found the original item. The box was empty.

Perfect, said the customer.

They signed for delivery and sat down to enjoy it. Three seconds later, the doorbell rang.

The marching band had returned to collect its packing materials.
