The Help Desk Opens a Help Desk for Itself
Share
A fictional comedy from CyberBabiez. The characters and events are invented.
Dot submitted a ticket explaining that she had too many tickets. The system assigned it ticket number four thousand and twelve.
Estimated response time: eventually.
She marked it urgent. The system changed the font to red, which was exciting but not assistance.
Mr. Buttons suggested closing the desk for ten minutes to organize the queue. Dot worried about inconveniencing customers.
The customers, who had been waiting inside a fictional telephone, voted unanimously for any plan that might help.
Dot sorted the requests into real problems, imaginary problems, and problems caused by the help desk. The third pile was largest.
She simplified the forms and reopened. The queue immediately shrank.
Her original ticket finally received a reply.
Have you tried taking a short break?
Dot gave the system one very meaningful look.
