Zed Runs for President of the Garden Gnome Committee

They had also never spoken, Zed pointed out. This made the polling complicated.

His campaign posters showed a gnome enjoying a slightly different angle. It was not a dramatic platform, but it was achievable.

Election day brought a surprise: every candidate received the same number of votes because nobody could identify a registered gnome.

The committee agreed to rotate the ornaments occasionally and stop holding elections for them.

Zed accepted the compromise with grace.

He kept one campaign button. It read A FRESH PERSPECTIVE, and looked particularly inspiring when viewed from the other side of the garden.
